The proposed development would occur near Irvine Lake, seven to ten miles one way from the Cities of Orange and Ranch Santa Margarita. The project would generate an additional 40,000 car trips per day on the bucolic two-lane Santiago Canyon Road. It would also place new residents in an area prone to wildfires – four fires have occured within the last two years. The Task Force values natural lands, clean water, energy conservation and uncongested roadways and opposes poorly planned development that tramples sensitive habitat, negatively impacts existing residents’ quality of life, overburdens infrastructure and passes more expense onto tapped-out taxpayers.
