Irvine Ranch DedicationFriends of Harbors, Beaches and Park is the fiscal agent for the Orange Hills Task Force. A coalition of residents, business owners and parents has pooled their resources to protect the natural lands bordering the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains from irresponsible developments. The major focus is a sprawling 4,000-unit development that The Irvine Company plans to build across six miles of natural land.

The proposed development would occur near Irvine Lake, seven to ten miles one way from the Cities of Orange and Ranch Santa Margarita. The project would generate an additional 40,000 car trips per day on the bucolic two-lane Santiago Canyon Road. It would also place new residents in an area prone to wildfires – four fires have occured within the last two years.

The Task Force values natural lands, clean water, energy conservation and uncongested roadways and opposes poorly planned development that tramples sensitive habitat, negatively impacts existing residents’ quality of life, overburdens infrastructure and passes more expense onto tapped-out taxpayers.
