renewed measure m - the environmental coalition

Conservation and community organizations recognized the advantages of Renewed Measure M's comprehensive mitigation program. Instead of mitigating freeway projects with a few trees or shrubs planted along the roadways, the funding provided an opportunity for landscape level mitigation to occur that ultimately provided a net environmental benefit to our existing network of protected natural lands.

The following organizations support Renewed Measure M as it moves forward with acquisition and restoration projects:

  • Amigos de Bolsa Chica
  • California Oaks Foundation
  • California Cultural Resource Preservation Alliance
  • Canyon Land Conservation Fund
  • Chino Hills State Park Interpretive Association
  • Earth Resource Foundation
  • Endangered Habitats League
  • Friends of Coyote Hills
  • Friends of Harbors, Beaches and Parks
  • Friends of Newport Coast
  • Hills For Everyone
  • Hillside Open Space Education Coalition
  • Inter Canyon League

FHBP now coordinates update emails and conference calls for this coalition. We hold conference calls the process moves forward and as important milestones are met or decisions are made by the Environmental Oversight Committee.

The Orange County Transportation Authority provided the Environmental Coalition with a Letter of Assurances for the program in September 2007 outlining the program's intent because concerns were raised that transportation projects were proceeding with findings of less than significant impacts to the environment.
