Tree Preservation Ordinance Hits Road Block

The County Planning Commission may be reversing direction on a policy aiming to protect native trees in unincorporated areas of Orange County. Three Commissioners seems ready to vote it down, but the meeting was only a public workshop, not a hearing and county counsel advised against it. Michael Wellborn of Friends of Harbors, Beaches & Parks (FHBP) testified in support of the ordinance. Orange County is the ONLY Southern California county that does NOT have a tree preservation policy in place.
