Coastal Commission Steps In on Oceano Dunes

We are grateful that the Coastal Commission stepped in to save the nesting grounds for the Western Snowy Plover and Least Tern at Oceano Dunes State Park. With lack of activity on the dunes due to the COVID pandemic, the endangered birds nested there and State Parks staff began interfering with the nests. The park is now scheduled to reopen for vehicle use and camping after September (after nesting season).
