Friends of Harbors, Beaches & Parks (FHBP) organized a coalition letter and sent its own regarding the (then) upcoming decision about the Dana Point Harbor Revitalization Plan. Based on the math, the shortfall in the deal pulls money from OC Parks and not the County General Fund. As a reminder, OC Parks just got its budget restored from the bankruptcy debt payments (after 20 years of funding being siphoned from it). Friends of Harbors, Beaches & Parks (FHBP)’s President Michael Wellborn comments in the article that transparency and appropriate analysis of the environmental impacts should be addressed. The Board of Supervisors ultimately voted unanimously in favor of the plan.
