A great decision by the California Coastal Commission to keep our beaches public and NOT allow for privatization in Newport Beach. Lawns, porches, and furniture are on public land and the City’s proposal to cut them back to an encroachment depth of “just 15 feet’ was scoffed at by the Commission–and rightly so. California’s coastline is everyone’s coastline–not just those with means. Thanks to the hard work of Penny Elia and Robb Hamilton for letters demanding action and documenting the encroachments.
