Newport Requests Removal of Homes from Flood Zone at Beach

Great news! Apparently sea level rise won’t happen in Newport Beach because the City says so! What a relief. The City of Newport Beach persuaded the Federal Emergency Management Act (FEMA) to remove 2,700 properties from its coast from being in the flood zone. This means residents won’t need flood insurance. FEMA had revised its maps in 2016 and added additional homes to map, but now they won’t.
